Do Etsy weather witches actually work? An honest answer from one

You are probably reading this with the forecast open in another tab: a grey cloud over your wedding date, a rain percentage that will not come down, and a small voice asking whether it is silly to even wonder. So you typed the question: do Etsy weather witches actually work? I am one of them. My good weather ritual was ordered more than 1,500 times in my Etsy shop, so I have heard that question many times, usually with an apology first.

Here is my honest answer, from the inside. I cannot command the sky, and I will never tell you I can. What I can do is hold one clear picture of your day with my full attention. And I have read too many messages afterwards to explain them all away.

Why you are asking

Most people find me in the last week, when the forecast appears and the weather suddenly becomes real. You have a dress, an outdoor ceremony and a garden full of chairs, and nothing you can do about the clouds.

You may have seen the trend in the news, too: newspapers and magazines wrote about brides hiring an Etsy witch for their wedding weather. Then there is the doubt, which I respect. You know how weather works. You also know how much this day means, and you want to feel you did everything you could.

What a weather witch actually does at her table

You tell me the names, the date, the place and what the day means to you. The place can be anywhere in the world, from a two-day wedding in Todi in Italy to a honeymoon on safari. The ritual is held at my table the same day you order, seven days a week, during my active hours.

Your names and date go on paper in my handwriting, and a candle is lit for you. Then I speak the intention aloud, in the present tense, as if it is already so. And I feel it: the relief as you step outside, the light on the faces around you. I stay with that feeling until it is whole.

That is how weather behaves: sometimes it clears completely, sometimes it gives you a window. I treasure those messages just as much.

What I believe happens

I believe words and feelings have power, and that when the two meet, something happens that I can only describe as a field. An intention held clearly, spoken as already true and felt until it is whole, is not nothing.

I also believe in a picture held by two people. Once you order, your day is not only in your head, going round with the forecast. It is on my table too, in my handwriting, and two people holding one clear picture pull harder than one.

And there is the calm, the part I am most sure of. When you know your day is being held, your shoulders come down and you stop refreshing the weather app. That calm is a big part of why I love this work.

Where I stand, honestly

I do not control the weather, and I never promise or guarantee an outcome: not sunshine, not a dry ceremony. This is spiritual guidance, offered for entertainment purposes, and your own choices remain the strongest force. Keep the marquee and the umbrellas. Holding a picture of blue sky and being ready for rain are not opposites. And if your report did not land the way you hoped, tell me within seven days and I will put it right.

How to decide, and why the reassurance counts

Four things, if you are still weighing it up.

• The price is small: €8.88, about the cost of a coffee and a slice of cake.
• The risk is small. If the sky does what it was always going to do, you have lost very little.
• Choose someone honest, who tells you plainly what she cannot do. Be careful with anyone who guarantees sunshine, pushes costly extras to "fix" a forecast, or goes quiet once you have paid. I wrote more on how to choose a weather witch.
• The reassurance alone is worth something.

That last one is what brides write about again and again. Two to four weeks before is the sweet spot, though even the day before is fine, and from the moment the ritual is held, something changes.
