A holiday is a strange thing to hope for. You save for it, you count down to it, and then you spend the last week before it staring at ten little cloud icons on a screen. I know, because the messages that reach my table in June and July nearly all begin the same way: we only have one week.
What I hold for you
The Vacation Weather Spell is the same ritual as my wedding one, held for your dates and your place. If you want to know where it comes from, I wrote about my good weather spell at length. Your names, the destination and the days go on paper at my table, in your own words where you gave me them. A candle is lit for you, and beside it what a weather ritual asks for: water, most often, and sometimes a herb that belongs to a bright day. I speak the intention aloud as already true, "light on the water, and them in it", and I feel it, fully, in a quiet that is yours alone. Then I write you a report from what I noticed, what I worked with and why, with a sentence to say on the morning you leave. It arrives the same day, seven days a week, during my active hours, so you can read it on the plane.
Older than any of us
People have always asked for fair weather before a journey. Sailors poured wine into the sea for a kind crossing. In Japan a small white doll, a teru teru bozu, still hangs in the window the night before a school trip. Asking is the oldest travel habit there is, and it has stayed with us because it changes the one who asks.
The elephants
Let me tell you about a message that reached my table in September, because I am still turning it over. A bride whose wedding day I had held in the summer wrote to me again, this time from her honeymoon. I will let her say it, because her words are better than mine:
"The day before our wedding was thunderstorms. The day of our wedding was blue skies and sun, the day after was thunderstorms and torrential rain. I contacted Ivy again on our honeymoon. We went on safari, the time we went was meant to be guaranteed sun but when we arrived thunderstorms, this means animals were hiding and activities was cancelled. I contacted Ivy as my dream is to see an elephant in the wild. The next day the sun came out and we saw herds of elephants."
Tarnya, September 2026
I tell you this because, after more than two thousand names on my table, it still amazes me what can happen when one person's wish is spoken clearly and the universe is invited to work with it. I did not make the sun come out. I held her dates with everything I had, and something met me halfway. I am grateful every day that this is my work, and grateful, more than I can say, for the messages that come back to my table with the light still in them.
What I have seen, again and again
Rain that waits until the photographs are done. A break in a grey week exactly as long as one evening needed to be. A forecast that said rain all week, and a day that did not listen. These are the stories people write to me afterwards, and I keep every one of them.
"... there was a break in the horrible weather we had been having just long enough to have a perfect night - the rain continued right after the wedding!"
Chloe, September 2026
"My wedding day was beautiful and said rain the entire week leading up. So grateful!"
Michelle, September 2026
Every time one of these arrives I sit with it for a moment before I answer. They are the reason I still light the candle with my whole heart for every new name.
See it, feel it, draw it in
What changes first is you. You leave in trust instead of bracing, and a holiday that begins in trust finds its sun, its shade and its good tables more easily than one that begins with a weather app. It is the law of attraction at its simplest: see the light on the water, feel the warmth on your skin as if you are already there, and you travel towards it like a magnet. Do it every evening of the last week, with a candle and a glass of water, and say your sentence aloud. I hold the same picture at my table. I have watched this for years, and it still makes me smile.
What to send me
Your first names, the destination and the dates. And one true thing, if you like: that it is your honeymoon; that your father is coming and it is his first time abroad in a decade; that you have a festival ticket and a tent; that there is one animal you have always wanted to see. I hold the whole week, not only the sky.
Free with it
Afterwards I check in with you. You receive my guide After Your Reading, with the morning and evening rituals. If you want a reading beside it, the Questions Reading comes at half price with this ritual, applied automatically at checkout: one question about the trip, or three, answered from your own words.
A stone for the suitcase
Sunstone: warmth, joy and new beginnings, light on a grey day. This is why I keep one on my table.
Questions travellers ask me
When should I order a vacation weather spell?
One to three weeks before you leave is lovely, and the day before still works: your ritual is held the same day, seven days a week, during my active hours.
Can you hold a festival, a honeymoon or a city trip?
Yes. Give me your first names, the place and the dates, and tell me what the trip is for. I hold the whole week, not only the sky.
What can I expect?
A ritual held with care on the day you order, a report written for you alone, and afterwards I check in with you. I promise no outcome and no one commands the sky: this is spiritual guidance, offered for entertainment purposes. Your own choices remain the strongest force.
Begin here: the Vacation Weather Spell. And when you are back, write to me. I would love to hear about the light, and about whatever you went there hoping to see.
Looking for a weather witch for your own day? This is what I do as your weather witch, and what I will never promise.
