I am Ivy, and love is the question I am asked most quietly. It usually comes with an apology first, and then: do you do love spells? I do. At my table a love spell is an invitation, not a binding. It works on the side of love that is yours: the way you see yourself, the love you are ready to let in, and the warmth between you and someone who already loves you.

What is a love spell?

In my hands, a love spell is an intention for love, held with full attention for one person: your name and your wish on paper, a candle, and words spoken aloud as if they are already true. It works on the side of love that is yours: how you see yourself, what you allow in, how you meet the people who come close. When that shifts, people notice. You carry yourself differently, you choose differently, and love has somewhere to land.

That is why every love spell I hold is an invitation, not a binding. Another person's heart and free will stay exactly where they belong, with them. What I hold is your clarity, your warmth and your openness, because love that arrives freely is the kind that stays.

What happens at my table

1. You tell me where you stand

   Your first name, your date of birth, and in your own words what you wish for: to meet someone who is ready, to love yourself again after a hard year, to feel close again to the person beside you. One true detail makes it warmer. Your words, not mine.

2. I hold your spell the same day

   Your name goes on paper in my handwriting, with your wish beneath it. A candle is lit for you, pink if I have it, and beside it a piece of rose quartz, the oldest love stone there is. Then I speak your intention aloud in the present tense, as if it is already so: "love finds me easily, and I let it in". And I stay with that feeling until it is whole.

3. I write to you

   Your report arrives the same day, written for you alone: what I worked with and why, where love was already moving, the one or two places that were still guarded, and one sentence to carry with you. Most people tell me afterwards that this sentence is the thing they remember.

4. And I stay with you

   Afterwards I check in with you, you receive my small guide After Your Reading, and my door stays open: you can always reply to my e-mail, and I read it and answer you myself.

Love magic is as old as longing

People have always made a little room for love. In Izumo in Japan, the tenth month of the old calendar is called Kamiarizuki, the month with gods: it is said that the gods of the whole country gather at the Grand Shrine of Izumo to talk over the ties between people for the year to come, and visitors still come to the shrine of Okuninushi, the kami of good relationships, to ask for en-musubi, the tying of a good connection. In England, young women kept St Agnes' Eve on 20 January and went to bed hoping to dream of the one they would love, a custom Keats turned into a poem. And for centuries a sprig of rosemary was tucked into a bride's wreath, for faithfulness and remembrance.

Under all of them sits the same simple idea I work with: picture the love you want as if it is already here, feel it, and you begin to draw it towards you. That is the law of attraction, and it is the oldest part of every love custom there is. I just do it with one name at a time, on purpose, and with my whole attention.
