The six kinds of witch at my table
Every witch I have ever met works in her own way. Some stir, some plant, some wait for the moon. None of these kinds is better than another, and most of us carry two of them. Here is how I see each one, with the stone, the candle and the ritual that belong to it.
The Kitchen Witch
The kitchen witch works with what is at hand: a wooden spoon, a pinch of salt, a pot on the stove, a table laid for someone who needs it. Her magic is care you can taste. She stirs clockwise to call something in and the other way to let it go, and the people she feeds feel it long after the plates are cleared. Her element is fire and hearth, her candle is warm gold, and her stone is rose quartz. The ritual I hold for her kind is the House Blessing, with bread and salt at my table.
The Green Witch
The green witch trusts what grows. Herbs on the windowsill, a garden that does better than anyone else's, a wish tucked into the soil of a plant she loves. Her magic is patience: she plants an intention, tends it, and lets it come up in its own season. Her element is earth, her candle is green, and her stone is green aventurine, the stone of growth and of doors that open. For her kind I light a green candle in the Money & Abundance Ritual.
The Sea Witch
The sea witch feels everything, and she knows that feelings move in tides. Water calms and clears her: a walk along the shore, a bath with salt, a bowl of water on the table. Her magic is release, and she is strongest when she lets something go. Her element is water, her candle is blue, and her stone is amazonite, calm water and the courage to say what you feel. The ritual for her kind is the Cord Cutting Ritual, which releases a tie from her own side.
The Cosmic Witch
The cosmic witch looks up. She knows what the moon is doing without checking, and she has noticed that her life moves with it. Her magic is timing: she begins things on the new moon, lets them go on the full moon, and waits when it is not yet time. Her element is air and starlight, her candle is silver or white, and her stone is lapis lazuli, a night sky with golden flecks. For her kind I hold the New Moon Intention Ritual on the day of the new moon.
The Hedge Witch
In the old villages the hedge was the edge of the known world, and the hedge witch lived on that line. She dreams vividly, she senses who is in a room before she looks, and she knows things she cannot explain. Her magic is listening: to dreams, to signs, to the ones who walk beside her. Her element is spirit, her candle is purple, and her stone is amethyst, for calm and clarity when she crosses the edge. For her kind I read who walks with her in the Spirit Guides Reading.
The Weather Witch
Between us, this is my own kind. The weather witch feels a change in the air before it comes. She watches clouds, smells rain on the wind, and her mood lifts with the light. She does not command the sky; she asks it, kindly, for the days that matter, and very often it answers. Her element is sky, her candle is yellow, and her stone is sunstone, light on a grey day. Her ritual is the one people know me for, the Good Weather Spell for Your Event, and you can read how I hold it on my good weather spell page.
What your kind means
Your kind is not a rule and it is not a box. It is a way of noticing where your intentions already work best, so that you can lean into it. A kitchen witch who never lights a candle still does magic every time she cooks with love. A cosmic witch who forgets the moon for a month is still a cosmic witch. If your result surprised you, take the quiz again another week: most of us are two kinds, and which one leads can change with the season you are in. If you want to know which stone is calling you as well, take my stone quiz, and if you have a question on your heart, find the reading that fits it.
Questions
What kind of witch am I?
Take the seven questions at the top of this page and I will tell you: kitchen, green, sea, cosmic, hedge or weather witch. Each result comes with your element, your stone, your candle colour, a small ritual to try this week and the ritual I would hold for you at my table.
What is a kitchen witch?
A kitchen witch works her magic through cooking, baking and the home. She puts intention into what she stirs and serves, and her house feels safe to everyone who enters. Her stone is rose quartz.
What is a green witch?
A green witch works with plants, herbs and the garden. Her magic is patient and grows in its own season. Her stone is green aventurine.
What is a sea witch?
A sea witch works with water, salt and the tides, and her strength is in letting go. Her stone is amazonite.
What is a cosmic witch?
A cosmic witch works with the moon, the stars and the turning of the year. Her magic is timing: beginnings on the new moon, release on the full moon. Her stone is lapis lazuli.
What is a hedge witch?
A hedge witch lives on the edge between the known and the unseen. She works with dreams, signs and the spirits who walk beside her. Her stone is amethyst.
What is a weather witch?
A weather witch reads the sky and works with the elements: sun, wind, rain and light. She asks the weather kindly for the days that matter. It is my own kind, and her stone is sunstone.
Can I be more than one kind of witch?
Yes, and most of us are. Your result shows the kind that leads, and if a second kind scored close behind it, I name that one too. Which kind leads can change with the season of your life.
Do I need to practise magic to take the quiz?
No. You do not need to believe anything or practise anything. Many people discover they have been one kind of witch for years without calling it that.
Is this quiz accurate?
It is made for fun and reflection. It can show you where your intentions already feel at home, but your own choices remain the strongest magic there is. Readings, rituals and stones at my table are spiritual guidance, offered for entertainment; stones carry meaning, not medicine.
