Aura colours: what each colour means

Ivy in a lavender field in soft golden light, the kind of light people often sense around a person

Some people seem to carry their own light. That light is what an aura reading looks at.

Aura colours

I am Ivy, and when a name comes to my table, the first thing I notice is often a colour.

This page gathers what each aura colour means, how I read the colour around you, and how you can feel your own. If you would like to know which colour sits around you now, my Aura Colour Reading is a short reading written for you alone.

What is an aura?

An aura is the light and feeling people sense around a person. You know it already: the friend who walks in and warms the room, the stranger who seems calm before they say a word. Aura readers describe that light in colours, and each colour says something about the season you are in, what you are growing towards and what you have to give.

What each aura colour means

Red

Red is energy, courage and a strong connection to the body and the earth. A red aura often belongs to someone who gets things moving, loves with their whole heart and needs a goal to feel alive. Its gift is drive; it shines brightest when that drive has a direction you chose yourself.

Orange

Orange is creativity, warmth and the joy of making things. People with orange around them tend to be generous, playful and brave about new experiences. Its gift is enthusiasm, and it grows when you give yourself room to create without needing it to be perfect.

Yellow

Yellow is optimism, a bright mind and the pleasure of learning. A yellow aura often shows up around someone who lights up a conversation, sees possibilities and loves a new idea. Its gift is clarity; it glows when your thoughts and your plans finally line up.

Green

Green is growth, the heart and balance. People with a green aura are often the ones others come to for care and steady advice, and they feel most themselves outdoors or among growing things. Its gift is renewal, and it deepens when you give yourself the same care you give everyone else.

Blue

Blue is calm, honesty and the voice. A blue aura often belongs to someone who speaks with care, keeps their word and feels deeply under a quiet surface. Its gift is truth told kindly, and it brightens when you say what you really mean.

Indigo

Indigo is intuition and depth. People with indigo around them often know things before they can explain them, and they are drawn to what lies beneath the surface. Its gift is inner sight; it grows clearer when you trust what you sense.

Violet

Violet is imagination, spirit and vision. A violet aura is often seen around dreamers, artists and people with a strong sense of a bigger picture. Its gift is inspiration, and it comes into its own when your ideas meet one small, practical step.

Pink

Pink is love, tenderness and kindness. People with pink around them are gentle, loyal and good at making others feel safe. Its gift is a soft heart, and it shines most when some of that love is turned towards yourself.

White

White is clarity, a fresh start and openness. A white aura often appears in a season of new beginnings, when you are ready to put old patterns down. Its gift is a clean page; it is lovely to notice and gentle to carry.

Gold

Gold is wisdom, inner light and quiet confidence. A gold aura often belongs to someone who has come through a great deal and now carries a calm, warm strength. Its gift is light for others, and it glows when you let yourself be seen.

What happens at my table

  1. You send me your name

Your first name and, if you like, a question about this season of your life.

  2. I sit with your name

I let the colour come, and I notice where it is bright and where it asks for care.

  3. I write to you

Your colour, what it says about where you are now, and one thing to do with it, in your inbox.

  4. And I stay with you

You can always reply to my e-mail: I read it and answer you.

Light around a person is an old idea

Painters have drawn light around holy and beloved figures for many centuries, from the golden circles in old icons to the glow around the Buddha in temple paintings. The idea that this light has colours, and that the colours follow what a person thinks and feels, was written down at the start of the twentieth century: in 1901 the Theosophists Annie Besant and C. W. Leadbeater published Thought-Forms in London, a book of painted plates showing feelings and thoughts as shapes of colour. Much of how aura colours are read today grew from that.

I love that the old painters and the modern readers arrive at the same simple thing: that people give off something you can feel, and that it is worth paying attention to.

How I hold an aura reading

Your colour describes a season, not a sentence. Colours move as your life moves, and the colour I see around you now tells you about this moment and what it is asking of you.

I read your colour to give you words for something you often already feel. What you do with it is yours, and that is exactly what makes it strong.

See it, feel it, draw it in

There is a part that is yours. Choose the colour you would like to carry into this season, the one that feels like the person you are becoming. Close your eyes, breathe slowly and picture that colour as a soft light around you, already there. Feel what it is like to walk through your day wrapped in it.

Then give it something real: wear it, put a flower or a stone in that colour where you will see it, and let it remind you of the light you chose.

Questions about aura colours

What is an aura?

An aura is the light and feeling people sense around a person. Aura readers describe it in colours, and each colour says something about the season you are in and what you have to give.

Can my aura colour change?

Yes. Your aura colour moves with your life, so the colour around you in a busy, brave season can be different from the colour around you in a quiet, tender one.

What does a gold aura mean?

Gold stands for wisdom, inner light and quiet confidence. It often belongs to someone who has come through a great deal and now carries a calm, warm strength.

Can I sense my own aura?

Many people can feel it: notice the colour you are drawn to when you feel most like yourself, and the colour others connect with you. The practice on this page is a lovely way to begin.

Which crystal fits my aura colour?

A stone in the same colour is a simple way to carry it with you. My guide to crystal meanings shows what each stone holds.

How much does an aura reading cost?

The Aura Colour Reading costs €4.44 and is a short reading written for you alone. The Protection Spell & Aura Cleanse is a ritual at €8.88, held at my table with a report for you.

One last thing
