Some dreams stay with you long after you wake. This page is about what they may be telling you.
Dream meanings
I am Ivy, and some of the loveliest questions that reach my table begin with four words: I had a dream.
This page gathers what twelve common dreams are often said to mean, how I read a dream for you, and a small way to work with your own. If one dream keeps coming back and you would like to know what it is saying to you, my Dream Meaning Reading is written for you alone.
What does a dream mean?
A dream is the part of you that thinks in pictures, telling you how something really feels. It borrows people, places and animals from your life and arranges them into a story, and the story is almost always about you: what you are hoping for, what you are ready to change and what you already know. The same symbol can mean something different for two people, so the best question to ask of any dream is simple: how did it feel?
What common dreams mean
Flying
Flying dreams are some of the happiest there are. They often come when you are rising above something that used to hold you down, or when you are ready to see your life from a wider view. The higher and easier the flight, the more freedom you are giving yourself.
Falling
Falling dreams tend to arrive when life is moving faster than you can steer, or when you are letting go of something you held tightly. Notice where you land. Most people wake before they touch the ground, and that is the dream's way of saying you are in the middle of a change, with a soft landing still ahead of you.
Water
Water is the language of feeling. Calm, clear water often belongs to a heart at peace; deep or moving water to feelings that are asking for room. A dream of swimming easily says you are finding your way through something emotional, and doing better than you think.
A house
A house in a dream is usually you. Finding a room you never knew was there is one of the loveliest dreams to have: it often means a new part of you is waking up, a gift or a wish you have not yet made space for.
Teeth
Dreams about teeth are among the most common of all. They tend to come during changes in how you are seen or how you speak up: a new job, a new relationship, a moment when your words matter. They are often an invitation to trust your own voice.
An ex
Dreaming of an ex is rarely about the person. More often they stand for a feeling or a lesson from that time, something you are finally ready to understand or put down. Many people notice these dreams just as they are opening to something new.
Snakes
The snake is one of the oldest symbols of renewal, because it sheds its skin and carries on. A snake in your dream often points to a change you are going through, an old way of being that is ready to fall away so a new one can grow.
Animals
An animal in a dream often brings a quality you need right now: the patience of a deer, the cleverness of a fox, the courage of a wolf. If the same animal keeps visiting your dreams, my guide to spirit animals tells you what it may be bringing.
Finding money
Finding money, coins or treasure in a dream is often about worth: noticing what you have to give, or discovering a talent you had overlooked. It tends to appear when you are beginning to value yourself a little more.
A wedding
A wedding in a dream is usually about joining things together: two parts of your life, two wishes, a decision and the courage to make it. It often comes when you are ready to commit to something that matters to you.
Being seen just as you are
Dreams of being undressed in a public place are very common and usually not about embarrassment at all. They often come when you are ready to be more open and authentic, and they ask how it would feel to be seen exactly as you are.
Someone who has passed
Many people wake from these dreams feeling they have been visited, and they often remember the warmth more than the words. However you understand them, the love in such a dream is real. If you would like to read more, my letter on signs from a loved one in spirit is here for you.
Which reading is yours?

Reading dreams is one of the oldest crafts
People have asked what their dreams mean for as long as there are stories. In the Book of Genesis, Joseph reads Pharaoh's dream of seven fat cows and seven thin ones as seven years of plenty followed by seven lean years. In the second century, Artemidorus of Daldis travelled from town to town collecting dreams and wrote them into the Oneirocritica, the oldest dream book that survives whole. He insisted on something I hold to this day: the same dream means one thing for one person and something else for another, so you must know the dreamer before you read the dream.
I love that the oldest dream reader already knew what I see at my table: a dream is never only a symbol. It is a symbol in a life.
How I hold a dream
A dream speaks about your inner world as it is now: what you feel, what you hope for and what you are ready to change. I read it as a mirror of this moment, in the light of your own life.
I read your dream to give you words for something you often already sense. What you do with it is yours, and that is exactly what makes it strong.

See it, feel it, draw it in
There is a part that is yours. Keep a notebook beside your bed, and when you wake from a dream that stays with you, write down three things: what happened, the one picture you remember most clearly, and how it felt. Do not try to explain it yet.
Then do the lovely part. If the dream felt good, close your eyes, step back into it for a moment and let that feeling fill you, as if it already belongs to your waking life. Ask yourself what one small thing you could do that would feel the same, and do it. That is how a dream becomes something you draw in.
Questions about dreams
What does it mean when you dream about someone?
A dream about someone is usually about the quality they stand for in your life: their kindness, their confidence, or a lesson from your time together. Ask yourself what that person means to you, and you often find the message.
Why do I keep having the same dream?
A recurring dream tends to come back while its message is still waiting to be heard. When you understand it, or when the situation in your life changes, it often softens or stops.
Can a dream show me what is coming?
A dream speaks about your inner world right now: what you feel, hope for and are ready to change. That is why it can help you see your next step more clearly.
What is the most common dream?
Dreams of falling, flying, teeth, water and being late are among the most common in the world. Each one is shared by many people, and each one still carries a meaning that is personal to you.
How does a Dream Meaning Reading work?
You tell me your dream as you remember it and how it felt. I sit with it at my table and write to you what it is saying, its main symbols and one thing to do with it.
How much does a dream reading cost?
The Dream Meaning Reading costs €4.44 and is a short reading written for you alone. You can always reply to my e-mail with a question about it.
