Etsy witch house blessing: how I bless a home from my table, step by step

House Blessing by Ivy Veil: Ivy with her eyes closed and her hands at her temples, in a room with dark wooden beams

The internet knows me as the Etsy witch for weather, and I am glad of it: more than fifteen hundred brides, festival-goers and holidaymakers have found me that way, and the sky has been kind to most of them. But some of the names on my table are not asking about a day. They are asking about a place. The keys that were handed over on Friday. The flat that still smells of somebody else. The house that has been theirs for years and has stopped feeling like it. A home is the one thing you walk into every single day, and blessing one has been on my table for as long as the weather has. So here is the other half of the answer to the question I get most: what do you actually do?

This is how I do a house blessing, step by step, and what you can do at your own threshold this week.

First, what a house blessing is

In my hands, a house blessing is an intention for a home, held with full attention for the people who live in it: your name and your address on paper, a candle, and words spoken aloud over the place as already true. It does not fix the boiler and it does not lower the rent. It works on the thing you feel the moment you open the door, which is whether the house is holding you or merely housing you. When that shifts, everything you do inside it gets lighter.

It is also very old. People have blessed their homes for as long as there have been doors: bread and salt carried over the threshold, so that the house would never know hunger or lose its savour; salt in the four corners; a candle carried from room to room on the first night; the first fire lit by the oldest person present; the old broom left behind and a new one bought, so that nothing of the last house was swept into this one. And it stands on the same ground as the law of attraction: a home holds what you bring into it. I bring warmth, and I bring it with you.

What happens when your order comes in

Your name and your date of birth go on paper, in my handwriting, and beneath them the words you wrote me about your home: the address, who lives there, what you want the house to be for you, the thing you want left outside the door. Your words, not mine. If it is a gift for someone moving in, their names go on the paper and I write to them. I keep the papers of one day together, and I sit down with them at my table.

A candle is lit for you, and beside it a small dish of salt, a piece of bread, and a stone for the house: amethyst if the home needs calm, tiger's eye if it needs its people to feel safe. Then I do the thing I believe in more than anything else in this work: I speak the blessing aloud, in the present tense, room by room in my mind, as if I am walking through your home with you. Not "may this house be safe", but "this house is safe, and warm, and theirs". And I feel it, in my body, the way you feel it on the first evening the place finally feels like yours: the shoulders that drop when the door closes behind you, the quiet, the wanting to stay in. I stay there, in a quiet that is yours alone, until the feeling is whole.

I believe words have power and emotions have power, and that when the two meet, something happens that I can only describe as a field. I have seen too many houses turn into homes this way to explain it away. I also do not need to explain it. I just do it, every day, for the addresses on my table.

Then I write to you

When the candle is out, I write down what I noticed while I held your home: the feeling of it, the rooms where the light was already warm, the one or two corners that wanted attention, and what the house seems to ask of the people in it. That becomes your report. It is written for you alone, from what you shared and what I sensed, and it arrives the same day, seven days a week, during my active hours.

The report ends with a few small gestures to carry with you into the house, and one sentence to say every time you come home. Most people tell me afterwards that the sentence at the door is the thing that stayed.

Your part, and it is the strongest part

One evening this week, when the house is quiet: a candle, a glass of water, a pinch of salt and a piece of bread on a plate by the door. Walk through every room with the candle, slowly, and in each one say what that room is for: rest, laughter, work, love. Feel the house as already yours, already warm, and let that feeling go into the walls. Say your sentence at the door, put the salt in a corner, eat the bread, drink the water. Then do one thing the next day that a person at home would do: hang the picture, invite someone, sleep with the window open. Two people holding one clear picture pull harder than one, and your own choices remain the strongest force there is.

And then I stay with you

This is the part I care about most, and the part that is different from a listing you order and forget. Afterwards I check in with you. You receive my small guide After Your Reading, with the morning ritual: a candle, a glass of water, one sentence, one true feeling, and a thank you. Aftercare is not an extra with me; it is the norm, because a home that changes changes the people in it, and I want you to leave my table with more strength, more energy and more clarity than you arrived with.

What comes back to my table

I would rather show you than tell you. These are about rituals held at my table, and I read each of them twice.

"It's just what I expected and more. She provides a very thorough and thoughtful explanation of her process and what can be expected. She's very attentive and warm, it was a very wonderful experience. I will for sure keep her words with me and ask for her services again."

Tamara, September 2026

"An absolute angel. She is thoughtful And so kind, took her time to really explain each step, and I've seen shifts since working with her. Would recommend!"

shellsbells, September 2026

"Ivy is very kind and helpful, and she got a response very quickly. Now we'll just have to wait and see what happens next!"

Rosa, August 2026

I did not unpack their boxes. They did. I held the house in the light, and they walked in a little lighter.

Which one is yours?

If you are moving in, or want a fresh start where you already live, begin with the House Blessing; it is also the housewarming gift people do not expect and do not forget. If the place feels heavy, or you want the old energy out before the new comes in, add the Protection & Aura Cleanse Ritual for the clearing. If you are still choosing between places, or wondering when the move will come, the New Home Reading reads where your energy leans. And if you want all three held at once, the New Home bundle holds the blessing, the cleansing and the reading together, for less than the three apart. For a house with a new baby in it, there is Welcome Baby.

Is it different on my own site?

Same ritual, same table, same report. Here it is one price, held the same day, seven days a week, with the reading at half price beside it if you want one, and all of the aftercare included. And you can write to me directly, as a real message, at any point. I answer every one myself.

Questions people ask me about house blessings

Are you the same Etsy witch who does the weather spells?

Yes. Same table, same candle, same care. Weather is what the internet found first; home, love, work and money have been on my table just as long.

What do you need from me for a house blessing?

Your first name, your date of birth, the address or a description of the home, and what you want it to be for you, in your own words. One true detail makes it warmer: who lives there, what the last chapter was, the room you already love.

Do you need to come to the house?

I hold the blessing at my table, from your words and what I sense, and your home is held from there with the same care as if I stood in your hallway. Your report ends with a few small gestures to carry into the house with your own hands, and that part is yours.

Can I give a house blessing as a housewarming gift?

Yes, and people do. Put their names and the address in the field, say it is a gift, and I write the report to them. It arrives by e-mail, so it is never too late for the party.

What can I expect?

A ritual held with care on the day you order, a report written for you alone, and afterwards I check in with you. I promise no outcome: this is spiritual guidance, offered for entertainment purposes, alongside good sense and never instead of it. What I give you is my full attention, and a home that has been held in the light.

If your question is a home, begin with the House Blessing. If it is the old energy, the Protection & Aura Cleanse Ritual. And if you are not sure, the spell finder asks you one question and shows you what I would hold.

Go well, and come home.
